Public Education
After sitting in 4 hours of meetings at my current teaching location I am fully convinced that public education is a broken system being repaired by feeble placebos, splints, stints and bandaids.
Public educators are required by law to leave no child behind and make sure all students in their classes receive a free and appropriate education. We have to teach all the blueberries, not just the...

Be Practical
I love when God reveals new insight to me about me and others. I’ve been studying Psalm and Proverbs together via #ThankfulThirty with Holly Furtick. It’s in a nice little printable chart for my type A personality friends and you can check it off as you read, or highlight it like me. Yes, believe it or not I have some anal retentive ways.
Psalm this morning seemed to...
SHIFT
Sometimes when a shift in thinking and life happens we forget to record it. In these last few months I’ve been shifting all over the place! One of my recent shifts is a part time teaching position at a middle school. *Insert deep sigh here. It’s money in the bank and it’s the middle school Bailey attends so I can keep an eye on her. And I know God put me there so I should be...

This Day
We were up before the sun today for a new outing in a new land: Balloon Fiesta 2011. We picked Terry and Vicki up from their hotel at 4:20am and headed to Alameda, ready for our brisk morning outside. Surprised by how many others were awake, we chatted, laughed and soaked up the family time.
We were joined by David and Tess shortly after sunrise. We dined on vendor breakfast burritos, coffee...
Hebrews
12:1-4 MSG
Do you see what this means—all these pioneers who blazed the way, all these veterans cheering us on? It means we’d better get on with it. Strip down, start running—and never quit! No extra spiritual fat, no parasitic sins. Keep your eyes on Jesus, who both began and finished this race we’re in. Study how he did it. Because he never lost sight of where he was...

Humble Pie
God opposes the proud. I know that if God is for me then who can stand against me. I definitely want Him on my side. Even when being meek means I have to eat my words, Humility hurts. It cuts a person off at the knee and brings one low. Being humble is an art. A humble person is not arrogant or full of themselves. Modesty surrounds them.
Humility also brings benefits. Humble yourselves therefore...

New Week --->New Attitude
On the advice from a friend we’ll call “Barnabas” I read Joshua 1 this morning.
Powerful List Coming at you, hold on to something!
I will give you every place where you set your foot.
Your territory will extend from the desert to Lebanon. (interesting)
I will be with you; I will never leave you nor forsake you.
Be strong and courageous. X’s 3

Called to Christlikeness
A wise fellow mentioned to me recently, “Hurt people hurt people.” I pray to break that cycle. I’m through with being hurt. I know it’s because I keep high expectations of people and when they don’t quite make it and show their human side, it has a tendency to bust me up a little. So I’m getting through it, standing on the Word. Everything we need is in Him. Man...
Home
I’ve been thinking about where I grew up today. The last post is a pic of the barn where many adventures occurred; a best friend lost in round bales stacked 3 high, a fence post into the back of my thigh, a stolen smooch from a soon-to-be boyfriend/ex-boyfriend/boyfriend/promise ring boyfriend/friend. An old swing and pink canoe still lounges in my mom’s front yard. Daddy always said...

Variety of Life
I do like variety. Variety shows like SNL, MADtv, Ben Stiller and Tracey Ullman. Variety platters like Captain D’s seafood platter and Dickey’s BBQ meat platter. Variety shoppes like The Artsy Cafe where you can scrapbook, junk it and buy a cupcake. Variety packages like small boxes of General Mills cereal, miniature parfumerie of similar origins but different flavors.
Not quite sure what this...
Caffeine
What have I done to myself? My head feels as if it might explode. I want to go to bed. *Whining and pouting, loud moaning inside myself
*Long pause of reflection….
*More whining and pouting
*Flailing and flouncing
I’m sure my students are appreciating this fast during the end of the school year. :) This may be my only pleasure right now.
*A little more whining
I will straighten...
Oh May
Suddenly…I find myself with so much to do. I am almost overwhelmed, but no…I will not succumb to those outside forces that want me to flail about in the whirlwind of busy-ness. I am a focused individual who is about her Father’s Kingdom.
I do love May and this year I will let myself enjoy the change of season. Change of season is an interesting turn of phrase. Feeling a change...

Bringing the Love
Moments of revelation are elating. I love in-the-valley ponderings when a light shines down from heaven and I understand. Recently, one such moment brought me mountain-top joy. My chosen profession has not brought much happiness in the past few years. I’ve struggled. Somedays I’ve felt so stifled that I didn’t know if I could make it. I’ve wanted to walk out the door and...

Everyday (again)
The day is made up of moments, surrounded by a stream flowing out of each individual. Prayed up or not, it starts. It appears to be my destiny to bring “the love” wherever I go. Some days I fail miserably.

Pruning
It’s time for yard work. Simple or extravagant, florals or greens, riding or push…we can smell it everywhere we go. Spring in full swing.
I have some shrubs and a wisteria that’s out of control. I also have a bundle or 2 of pompous grass that wasn’t cut back in the fall. Pruning is necessary.
Pruning takes work. It’s hard too. And if you’re the one being...

Crazy
Did you start singing a Patsy Cline rendition at the glance of the title? Someone told me this weekend that I was crazy. That’s the impression that I leave with people. I’ve heard this most of my life and I think I need a better definition. I always respond “Crazy in a good way?” So I decided to conduct an experiment with the captive audience who surrounds me everyday. High...

yawn
The four natural relaxers are yawning, stretching, shaking and swallowing. I wonder if this is why I yawn all day long. Coping? Or am I tired? Or is there someone threatening my oxygen intake?
Scattered and rambly are my thoughts. Have you ever been underneath a bramble and looked up through it? I think that’s what my mind may look like today. My desk is a reflection. *chuckling right now
